Six franchises have been confirmed ahead of the 2022 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20.
The franchises will represent teams from Dhaka, Cumilla, Chattogram, Barishal, Sylhet and Khulna. Rajshahi and Rangpur, the northern regions of Bangladesh, are missing the upcoming edition.
Cumilla and Chattogram teams are owned by Lotus Kamal Group and Akhter Group respectively. Dhaka will be owned by Rupa and Marn Group, followed by Pragati Group owning Sylhet and MindTree Khulna.
Fortune Group, that took part in last year's Bangabandhu T20 Cup, confirm the return of Barishal team in BPL. The last time a Barishal-based team played the league was in 2016.
Big-name corporates Bashundhara Group, Beximco, and Gemcon Group did not show any interest to own any team for this BPL.
The eighth season of BPL is tentatively scheduled to run from January 20 to February 20. The BPL was postponed for 2020-21 season due to Covid-19. Rajshahi Royals had won the 2019-20 BPL.
