Danielle Wyatt, who plays for England’s Women team has said that she will be using a secret weapon for the upcoming T20 tri-series against India and Australia.
Few minutes later, she revealed her secret weapon and it was bat that was gifted by the Indian captain Virat Kohli. The bat was a gift, given when the pair met at Derby during India’s tour of England in 2014.
When asked what was the reason behind Kohli gifting the bat, Wyatt said: “I’m using Virat Kohli’s bat now. I once tweeted “Kohli marry me.” Ten mins later, “I picked my phone up and I’ve got 1000s of favourites and retweets, it’s all over Indian news, they’re emailing my dad at home.”
After that when Kohli meet Wyatt, he said to her: “You can’t do things like that on Twitter! They take things seriously!’ I was like, ‘okay. Sorry!”
Nonetheless, aware of what a big fan Wyatt was, Kohli handed over one of his own bats – Wyatt describes it as “a beast”. And now, for the first time, she is preparing to use it when she opens for England in this month’s T20 tri-series.
Kohli has do wonders as a batsman and his bat can surely take some credit. Wyatt will be hoping to do the same with Kohli’s bat in the upcoming series.
