IND vs BAN, 2nd Test: Bangladesh in impecunious situation at Eden
Bangladesh have been in disastrous position after batting first at Eden Gardens. Winning the toss, skipper Mominul Haque decided to bat first in the historic pink-ball Test at Eden Gardens but his decision was proved wrong gradually after the start of the match.
Bangladesh scored 73 runs for 6 wickets in 21.4 overs till supper break. Liton Das was fighting lonely against Indian bowlers before the break. But hee too was forced to retire due to an injury to his head. After the break, two bowlers Abu Jayed Rahi and Naeem Hasan will take the bat.
The second Test of the series began at 1:00 pm IST on Friday, November 22 at Eden Gardens. In the seventh over of the innings, opener Imrul Kayes was trapped in LBW by Ishant Sharma. He survived in the first ball of that over through review but could not survive in the third ball of the same over. Imrul conrinued his poor form and scored 4 runs.
Umesh Yadav then dismissed Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque (0 off 7 balls) to get the second wicket of the match. Rohit Sharma, who was on the slip took a great catch of Mominul. Umesh Yadav bowled Mohammad Mithun after one ball in the same over. Mushfiqur Rahim was also dismissed in the very next over. Mushfiq did not get any runs before Mohammad Shami was bowled him out. Bangladesh lost their fourth wicket at just 26 runs. Opener Shadman Islam was the next wicket of Indian bowlers. Umesh Yadav took his third wicket dismissing Shadman who scored 29 runs with 5 fours.
Mahmudullah Riyad and Liton Das were trying to manage the situation after that. They made a 22-run partnership. But Mahmudullah was caught behind the wicket by Ishant Sharma when the score of Bangladesh was just 60 and the scorecard showed a dismal score of 60/6.
Umesh Yadav was the standout bowler for India till supper break with 3 wickets for 29 runs. Ishant Sharma took 2 wickets while Mohammad Shami picked-up one wicket.
