Soumya becomes Bangladesh’s first ever to score List-A double hundred
Soumya Sarkar is back into the form at the right moment as he scores hundred and a double-hundred in back to back matches for Abahani Limited in Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League.
Soumya’s form since the last one year in the International arena has been a major concern ahead of the World Cup and he was failing to perform well in this year’s DPL as well.
However, the selectors can have finally a breath of relief as Soumya has ran absolutely riot against Sheikh Jamal on Tuesday.
The super league match at Savar saw some series shocking moments, starting from Tanbir Heyder’s stunning knock to Soumya’s brutality.
Sheikh Jamal were nowhere into the game after they chose to bat first. They lost 5 wickets under 100 runs on the board, but Tanbir put up a miraculous comeback for Sheikh Jamal as he scored an unbeaten 132* off just 115 balls which guided his side to a massive score of 317.
However, who knew that this huge total was never enough. Abahani openers Jahurul Islam and Soumya Sarkar were on fire right from the word go and it continued till the very end.
Soumya broke galore of records and broke Raqibul Hasan’s 190 to become Bangladesh’s highest ever List-A scorer. With 14 fours and 16 massive sixes, Soumya hammered an unbeaten 208* off just 153 balls and finished things off comfortably with 9 wickets in hand. He put 312 runs partnership in the opening stand, with Jahurul scoring 100 from 128 balls.
Soumya also became the first ever Bangladeshi to reach a List-Aa double hundred and 28th overall to reach this feat.
