Du Plessis returns to South Africa ODI squad for India series
Cricket South Africa named their final squad which will tour India for a three-match ODI series and former captain Faf du Plessis is included in the announced squad.
South Africa are about to tour India for a three-match ODI series which will start on March 12th. At the moment, Proteas are busy in hosting Australia for a three-match ODI series. Following the series they will tour India which will be a short outing in India before the Indian Premier League.
Ahead of the tour, Cricket South Africa announced their final squad led by Quinton de Kock. Former ODI captain Faf du Plessis is back into the South Africa ODI squad after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Faf took rest from the previous home series against England and Australia.
South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi will miss the tour as he is awaiting the birth of his first child. Left-arm spinner George Linde has been named as his replacement in the tour. Rassie van der Dussen is also back into the squad after being rested for thr ongoing Australia series.
CSA Independent Selector, Linda Zondi said, “It is exciting to see the amount of competition for spots that we have within the team and in the franchises, it’s a good headache for us as selectors to have. We are satisfied with our picks for what will certainly be a challenging tour of India. We saw some promising performances last year from the T20 squad that travelled there and we wanted to give a player like George Linde another crack at the conditions which seemed to really suit him.”
