Shakib kicks, then throws stumps in Dhaka Derby
In a clash between Dhaka’s two prominent clubs – Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) T20, ugly scenes have emerged from Shakib Al Hasan.
Shakib, the Mohammedan skipper, involved in furious altercations with on-field umpires.
In the fifth over of Abahani’s innings which Shakib himself bowled, the all-rounder kicked the stumps after an unsuccessful lbw appeal to dismiss his counterpart Mushfiqur Rahim. He was not done yet.
In the next over bowled by Shuvagata Hom, umpires called the players off after 5.5 overs with rain pouring down at Mirpur. This time Shakib took all three stumps and threw on the pitch in middle of an argument with the umpire at the non-striker’s end.
Shakib was then seen getting involved in another heated argument with Abahani coach Khaled Mahmud Sujon.
As of the rain delay, Abahani are struggling at 31/3 in a run chase of 146 runs. All three wickets went to Shuvagata while Shakib gave 10 runs in his only over after making 37 runs – his highest in this DPL so far – with the bat.
