Bangladesh pacers Rubel Hossain and Hasan Mahmud are set to miss the upcoming Sri Lanka ODI series with injuries. Rubel Hossain hit by rumor

Bangladesh team management confirmed BDCricTime, saying the duo will not be considered for the final squad against Sri Lanka. Rubel injured his spinal disc during the tour of New Zealand. In the same tour, Hasan left midway with a back injury. None of them had been part of Sri Lanka Test tour although they were named in preliminary ODI squad that trained in Dhaka before Eid-ul-Fitr.

Bangladesh still have in-form Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman who impressed in the Test series and the IPL respectively. Mohammad Saifuddin will play a key role with the new ball. Uncapped Shoriful Islam and Shohidul Islam will be waiting to grab a first ODI cap. The home side called in Rishad Hossain and Aminul Islam to the training to deliver leggies to the batters. The whole squad is scheduled to resume training this week. Sri Lanka have arrived in Dhaka today and are in three-day hotel quarantine. They will play a practice match on May 21 before the series kicks off on May 23. Bangladesh preliminary ODI squad: Tamim Iqbal Khan (captain), Naim Sheikh, Imrul Kayes, Liton Kumar Das, Soumya Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohmmad Mithun, Mahmudullah Riyad, Afif Hossain Dhrubo, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Sheikh Mahedi Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nasum Ahmed, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam, Shohidul Islam.
